Why You Should Stop Fearing the Dreaded Root Canal
Here at our Hudson Valley dental practice, fear is common reaction among our patients when we tell them that they may need a root canal treatment. “Do I really need to undergo the procedure?” or “Aren’t there any other options?” are just some of the questions that they throw back at us following our suggestion of a root canal procedure.
Got An Infected Pulp?
By and large, a root canal procedure is associated with excruciating pain and discomfort. However, it should be noted that what is actually painful is the condition that leads to you needing a root canal procedure. Most of the time it has to do with an infected pulp (the soft tissue inside your teeth which contains connective tissue, blood vessels, and nerves). An infected pulp may result from a cracked/broken tooth, injury to the tooth (despite the absence of cracks or chips), repeated dental procedures, and deep cavities.
Here’s why you should not be afraid of a root canal treatment here at our Hudson Valley dental practice:
- there are different types of anesthesia available now than in previous years
- advanced imaging technology so we can figure out clearly what we see
- shorter treatment times due to extremely precise dental tools
