Michael P. Gelbart, D.D.S.
General Implant and Cosmetic Dentistry
Dr. Gelbart graduated from New York University in 1975 with a B.S. degree, and went on to graduate from the New York University School of Dentistry in 1979. In 1980 he established Family Dental Centers in upstate New York, creating practice groups in Poughkeepsie, Fishkill, Brewster, Yonkers, Yorktown Heights and Manhattan.
Dr. Gelbart is a diplomate of American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry (ABOI/ID). There are only a few hundred ABOI/ID diplomates in the world, and Dr. Gelbart is one of only a few in the entire Hudson Valley (from New York City to Albany). It took years to receive this prestigious designation and required presenting 100 cases, a written exam and an oral defense of 10 cases.
Dr. Gelbart is a former NYU Clinical Assistant Professor, having trained NYU dental students for more than seven years. His continuing dental and medical practice education includes attendance at numerous symposiums and educational forums in implants, sinus lifts and bone augmentation at NYU and The Connecticut Implant Institute. He has also attended practice seminars in the rescue and repair of implants and implant-blades. In 2008, he attended the prestigious Vegas Institute for Cosmetic and Neuromuscular Dentistry.
Dr. Gelbart focuses on keeping up-to-date with all of the latest advancements in dentistry and medical technology, enabling him to practice at the highest level of dentistry and provide the best quality of care in the field. His expertise ranges from the most challenging cosmetic and restorative dentistry treatments to the most complicated dental surgeries performed today.
Since placing his first implant in 1991, Dr. Gelbart has been called on to place over 20,000 implants for patients in the US and abroad, with an extremely impressive record of success. Lance Gordon, D.M.D.
General and Cosmetic Dentistry
Dr. Gordon received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from Boston University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA, and performed his dental residency at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY. Dr. Gordon is a caring and compassionate dentist, who also is fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Gordon is a general dentist with clinical proficiency in molar rotary Endodontics, Crown and Bridge, Veneers, Invisalign, Surgical extractions and implant restorations. Dr. Gordon will be practicing out of the Fishkill and Jefferson Valley offices, as well as every other Saturday at the Brewster office.
Marina Chernin, D.D.S

Dr. Chernin graduated from the New York University College of Dentistry in 1989, and has been trained by some of the most advanced cosmetic dentistry specialists. She has been practicing for close to 20 years.
Using a gentle approach with the latest dental practice technology, she helps patients maintain healthy teeth and avoid gum disease. She understands that patients today have many concerns about the safety of their dental care, and she gives you a warm welcome and her personal ongoing commitment to your oral health.
Fernando Ehrhardt D.M.D., M.S.
Dr. Erhardt attended the University of Miami in Florida, receiving a B.S. degree in Biology, a B.A. in Religious Studies, and a minor in Theater Arts. He went on to attend Harvard University School of Dental Medicine and Oral Surgery, completing his degree in 2002.
He performed his residency at Bronx, VA Medical Center. He was part of the Clinical Faculty at Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery until 2006. He is Board Eligible, American Academy of Periodontology.
Larry Stein, D.D.S.
General and Cosmetic Dentistry
Dr. Larry Stein completed undergraduate studies at SUNY Albany and obtained his D.D.S. degree from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery. He is a seasoned practitioner and has been with Family Dental Group for over fifteen years.
He is currently a member of the Academy of Craniofacial Pain; previously been a member of the American Dental Association, and the 9th District Dental Society. He completed the dental residency at Fishkill Beth Israel Medical Center in 1996.
Fred Friedman, D.D.S.
Fred Friedman, DDS received his dental degree from Emory University Dental School in Atlanta, GA and received his certificate in orthodontics from New York University, New York, NY. Previous to joining the Family Dental Group practice, Dr. Friedman has maintained his own successful private practice. Dr. Friedman is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Ninth District Dental Association of New York, and the Northeastern Society of Orthodontists.
Dr. Friedman specializes in orthodontic treatment for growing children and adults, including but not limited to traditional metal braces, clear (ceramic braces), and Invisalign for teens and adults.
Mila Belgrade D.M.D
Dr. Mila Belgrade graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where she earned her dental degree. She than completed one year of General Practice Residency in Montefiore Medical Center, and was chosen to stay for a second year as a Chief resident. Dr. Mila specialized in Pediatric Dentistry at Maimonides Medical Center, where she received extensive training. Dr. Mila is Board Eligible by American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association, and Ninth District Dental Society
Dan Scanell, RDH
Dan has lived most of his life in Cortland Manor. He graduated from Hostos College with honors and a degree in Dental Hygiene. He is passionate about his work and enjoys meeting new people. He loves playing the guitar, and composing original music. He has instructed aspiring musicians in the past. He enjoys many sports, including tennis and golf.

Carolyn has a wealth of knowledge and involvement in dental practice management, with over 30 years of work experience. She has held nearly every position in the office, excelling in every role. She brings a unique blend of focus, skills, and competencies to her position, and the ability of being able to see things from different perspectives, a skill that greatly contributes to her management capabilities. She ensures flawless execution of operational standards, including compliance with government regulations and she works to recruit, hire and develop office staff capable of delivering high quality patient care.
Maria has a wealth of experience in dental practice management, having shifted careers from the banking industry over fourteen years ago. She took a dental assisting course and consequently joined Saw Mill Family Dental, holding many roles including working as a dental assistant and at the front desk. She has been Office Manager at Jefferson Valley since September 2012. She oversees the many aspects of the daily operations of the office and works closely with patients to sequence their treatment according to clinical needs and then according to financial impact.
Insurance Specialist, New York Region
Carla spent two years at Wisconsin State University, before moving to New York, where she attended Mercy College in White Plains. She joined Family Dental in their Brewster office in 1986, holding various roles and eventually becoming Office Manager. In 2011, she moved into her current role, where she is responsible for acting as a bridge between insurance companies and patients. Her strong customer service skills and in depth knowledge of all insurance benefits related to the dentistry arena makes her a perfect fit for her position. She is also responsible for credentialing of professionals in the region, which is the process of establishing the qualifications of licensed professionals.
