September 03, 2014 – Brewster, NY – The Family Dental Group, with four convenient locations in Brewster, Fishkill, Yorktown Heights and Metro New York, recently donated 10,000 pairs of gloves and 600 masks to help support efforts to combat and treat the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. The effort is being accomplished in collaboration with the Liberia Community Association of Rhode Island (LCARI).
Ms. Krystal Savice, a dental Hygienist at the Family Dental Group office in Brewster, approached Dr. Michael Gelbart to potentially help the non-profit organization, LCARI bring support and supplies to Liberia, West Africa. Ms. Savice’s mother, Hon. Nellie Francis Sirleaf-Savice is the President of LCARI. Dr. Gelbart and the rest of the Family Dental Group team felt this was an excellent opportunity to help others in need and immediately rose to the occasion by donating several boxes of gloves and masks.
The 2014 Ebola outbreak is one of the largest Ebola outbreaks in history and the first in West Africa. As of August 26, 2014 the Liberian Ministry of Health has reported 1378 reported and confirmed cases and 694 deaths.
