What Are Implant Dentures?
A large percentage of older Americans will need a full arch of teeth replaced. Do you remember past generations complaining about their dentures which rubbed their gums raw? Grandparents would often take their teeth out after a meal because they hurt their gums. Unfortunately, they had none of the options we have today for replacing missing teeth.

How Does Getting the Different Types of Implant-supported Dentures Work?
There are two types of implant-supported dentures; ball-retained dentures and bar-retained dentures. Ball-retained dentures have sockets and they fit on top of balls on top of the implants. Ball-retained dentures have a thin metal bar which attaches to implants in your jawbone. The bar has clips so you can attach the denture to the bar and it will be secure. Your dentist will help you decide which type of dentures are best for you.
The implant process is basically the same for each type of implant denture. Your dentist will place implants in the front of your mouth where you’re likely to have more jawbone left. If you don’t have enough bone to hold the implants, you may need a bone graft before proceeding. He or she will have you come back in several months when the jawbone has grown around the implant. If you smoke, quitting will help your implants heal faster. Your dentist will then expose the top of the implants and attach the bar or balls. You may have your custom dentures placed the same day. Every patient’s case is unique, however, we will try to combine steps whenever possible.
What is the Typical Implant-supported Dentures Cost?
Several elements will impact the cost of denture implants, and keep in mind that each patient’s cost depends on their unique circumstances. Whether you choose a bottom denture, both top and bottom dentures, or a partial denture is a major factor in determining your total cost. Other factors affecting your price include the number of implants you’ll need, the health of your gums and jawbone, as well as the quality of the denture you select. If your dentist can retrofit your existing denture, this will save you money; however, patients often opt for higher-end dentures since they won’t need replacing as often. We understand cost is often a concern; however, overdentures, which are initially more expensive, can save you money in the long-term. With implant-supported dentures, you won’t have ever have to buy denture adhesives again, and you’ll never have to have your dentures relined either.
What Are the Benefits to Implant-supported Dentures?
Implant-supported dentures function more like natural teeth than traditional dentures. You won’t have to worry about eating meat, corn on the cob or anything else that requires biting down. You also don’t have to worry about your dentures moving while you’re speaking or slipping out of your mouth. You’ll have more self-confidence and the implants help preserve your jawbone so you won’t experience the obvious changes to the shape of your face as much as traditional denture wearers so you retain a youthful appearance. Are Implant-supported Dentures Easy to Care For?
Implant-supported dentures are low maintenance. Use an extra-soft toothbrush and a cleaner or toothpaste recommended by your dentist. Afterward, rinse your denture with water and place it in water overnight. Your dentist will show you how to clean your gums and around your implants. Excellent oral hygiene will help protect your investment in your new denture. You should also see a dentist regularly to ensure your implants are in good shape and your denture still fits comfortably.

I went in that office being so nervous and anxious because of my previous experiences with other dentists but the staff at Family Dental Group was absolutely outstanding!! You couldn’t ask for a better person to deal with than Jessica. I notice other reviewers have praised her as well and they are right. I’m 31 and I admit that I’m a big baby at the dentist and I only try to go when Jessica is there because one of the other assistants made me feel uncomfortable. I also like Dr. Ayuko and Katerina at the front desk.
